Just back from an ab’fab few days at St. Abbs. St. Abbs is a stunning little fishing village on the east caost of Scotland; a favourite haunt of ours when we lived up there. In a wee cottage on the cliffs above the harbour it was just blissful. Waking up and going to sleep to the sound of seagulls and then opening the curtains to a ‘wow’ view. Much pottering, crabbing and beachcombing was done and I came home with some lovely pieces of driftwood.
I cleared my bench before I went and managed to finish this cute wee bunting for a customer whose friends were getting wed. She wanted something personal to them and I think it hit the spot. It was great fun doing the lettering, I can see me doing a bit more of this……..’HOME’……….’LOVE’…………maybe…..’MERRY CHRISTMAS’….. Oooh, perhaps not!
The initial letters were made using copper foiling technique and amber glass. The curlicue floursihes weren’t just there for aesthetic reasons but also to add a bit of strength to a fragile design.
Great fun, I loved it!
Great lettering – I’m impressed, very pretty. I can see lots of scope for ideas with your letters, clever sod arn’t you !!!
Thank you so much, my friends loved this gift, I’ll definitely be back to you for more goodies in the future and hopefully to one of your open gallery days.
